Autumn Evening in Frankfurt

Holidays are now over and students all over Germany have now returned to school after their extra long break.  Outside the sun is still shining, but the intense heat of August has passed.  That makes is very pleasant to get out and look around.  Ever more events are gradually being added to the list of things happening again in Frankfurt, but this month we are still without a number of regular features, namely festivals known to attract large gatherings of people. Here are a couple of things that are available once again in Frankfurt, starting in September.

English Theatre

The English Theatre opens its doors to the public once again in early September.  They admit that due to the uncertainties of current times, their programme could change at short notice.  Nevertheless, for the moment they are back, with anti-Corona measures in place.  Expect to comply with the normal Corona virus hygiene precautions, but know that once you are in your seat, you can remove your face mask.  The English Theatre website has all the details.

Alte Oper

If you would like, you can once again take in a concert or musical at the Alte Oper.  Things kick off in early September with classical music.  Tickets are now available and some fixtures have already sold out!  Of course, you have to comply with Corona virus regulations, but as with the English Theatre, no facemask is needed once you are in your seat.  You can find information regarding the programme, tickets and hygiene precautions at the Alte Oper website.

Things not happening in September this year

Rheingau Wine Festival, 02-11 September

In the interests of public health, the organisers of this popular wine festival held in Fressgass have cancelled the event this year.

Elsässer Week, 9-13 September

The week of French culture in Frankfurt has been cancelled for 2020.

Harvest Festival, 24-26 September

Unfortunately country life won’t be coming to the middle of the city this year.  However, mark 23-25 September on your calendar for 2021 as this is the date the organisers have set for the next event.
